May 20, 2012  Prayer--Confession
Prayer is an important part of Christian living, and affects us in many ways.  Confession is one aspect of prayer.  We look at Nehemiah's prayer in Nehemiah 1, and Daniel's prayer in Daniel 9.  In both of these confession of sin is an important part.  Also, both of these are powerful prayers that brought profound answers.

May 6, 2012  Quiet Time with God
We all need to spend quiet time with God.  In Exodus 33 and 34 we see Moses spending time alone with God.  We also know that Jesus spent many hours alone with His Father (see Mark 1:21-33).  Need help with a Quiet Time?  Click here.
April 29, 2012  "The 23rd Psalm--Series Conclusion"
"And I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever."  The "house of the Lord" refers here to the God's flock.  The sheep boasts of His Shepherd, and that he will always belong to Him.  We also think of Heaven and God's promises to those who believe in His Son, Jesus Christ.  Because our sins are forgiven through Christ's shed blood, we can live forever with the Lord.
April 22, 2012  "The 23rd Psalm--Part 11"

What is the legacy you will leave behind?  We consider the verse, "Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me...."
April 15, 2012  "The 23rd Psalm--Part 10"
"You anoint my head with oil."  Oil is used with sheep to protect them from various kinds of pesky flies, and in healing infectious skin disorders.  Likewise, God gives us his Holy Spirit to protect us.
Easter Sunday  April 8, 2012
Our Easter program airs at 8:30 AM on WIEZ  AM 670 in Lewistown, State College and Huntingdon.  This Easter Special includes Scripture readings and features some of the music of Steven Curtis Chapman.
March 18, 2012  "The 23rd Psalm--Part 8"
This week on Church School we examine, "Thy rod and Thy staff, they comfort me."  Phillip Keller sees a parallel in the rod and staff with the role of God's Word and God's Spirit in the life of the Christian.  Music includes "In the Garden" by yours truly, and "Savior, Like a Shepherd Lead Us" arranged by Integrity's Hosanna! Music collection, "America's 25 Best Hymns," produced in 1997.
March 11, 2012  "The 23rd Psalm--Part 7"

"All the Way"
"Yea, though I walk through the valley..."  Pastor Paul encourages the listener that the Lord leads us through those dark valleys in our lives, taking us to higher ground spiritually, just like the shepherd took the sheep to higher ground by way of the valleys.  Music:  "All the Way" by Fannie Crosby, sung by Pastor Paul.  Also, "Through it All,"  written by Andre Crouch, and sung by Selah.
March 4th  "The 23rd Psalm--Part 6"
"He leads me in the paths of righteousness..."  Pastor Paul looks at the path of wisdom referred to in Proverbs, as well as the Good Shepherd's call to follow Him.  The world out there is calling to you too!  Who are you following?  Music:  "Better than Life" by the Lakewood Church, and "Better is One Day."
February 26, 2012 "The 23rd Psalm--Part 5"
"He restores my soul."  It is an odd phenomenon that if a sheep gets on its back, it cannot right itself again.  It needs the shepherd to help it.  Left on its back, it will die within a relatively short time.  People get themselves into similar situations spiritually and can't get out by themselves.  The Good Shepherd, Jesus Christ watches out for us, and helps us when we are stuck.  Music:  "Jesus, Lover of My Soul" and Dallas Holm's, "At My Worst (You Found Me)."
February 19, 2012  "The 23rd Psalm--Part 4"
"He leads me beside the still waters," David says of the Lord, his Shepherd.  Sheep have no ability to discern the difference between good water sources, and polluted ones.   Where are you going to get your spiritual thirst satisfied?  Music "As the Deer" and "It is Well With My Soul" performed by the Judson University Choir, Elgin, IL.
February 5, 2012   "The 23rd Psalm--Part 2"

"I shall not (be in) want."  We may think we need a lot of things, but more than anything else, we need the Lord as our shepherd.  We need his expert care.  Music:  "The Power of Your Love" featuring Darlene Zschech and "Seek Ye First" sung by the Maranatha Singers.

January 29, 2012  "The 23rd Psalm--Part 1"
January 22, 2012  "Our Identity"
Erik Erikson, born in 1902 was an influential psychologist who described human development as an eight-stage process, yet he struggled with his own sense of identity.  What about our spiritual identity?
January 15, 2012  "Prayer"
I believe it was Corrie Ten Boom who said that prayer was meant to be used as a steering wheel, but often we just use it as a spare tire.  Let's talk about prayer.
January 8, 2012  "God is our Source"
God is our source, based on the story of "The Woman at the Well" in John 4.  He is like a spring of water in the innermost part of us.  Music:  "As the Deer" and "My Life is in You, Lord."
Christmas Day Broadcast "Advent Series--Love Story"
All the stories of the Bible are part of a larger story--a love story of God toward humankind.  Music featuring Steven Curtis Chapman and Amy Grant.  Merry Christmas from First Baptist Church, Lewistown!
December 18th Broadcast "Advent Series--Rescue Mission"
Inspired by Chuck Colson's book The Faithand other writings, Pastor Paul looks at the cosmic battle of the ages, and the coming of Christ into the world as a silent invasion of God's Kingdom behind enemy lines.  Music by John Tesh, It Came Upon the Midnight Clear, and the Angel Tree Choir,  Joy to the World.
December 11th Broadcast "Advent Series--God Meets Us"
This is the first in our Advent Series.  Pastor Paul looks at one of the themes of  the meaning of the Christmas Story.  By becoming a human being, God meets us at our level.  Two points of note:  We can have the confidence that God really does understand What we are going through, and we can see the true nature of God in Jesus Christ.  Music from the Angel Tree Choir album.
December 4th Broadcast "Persecuted Because of Me"
The last in our "Pardon Our Dust" series on the Beatitudes, again we look at persecution, this time in regard to our response to it.  Romans 12 teaches us to bless those who persecute, and to not repay evil for evil.  A story from the Angel Tree ministry reminds us of how God is working even when everything around us is falling apart.  Music from the Angel Tree Choir album, "Angels We have Heard on High" and from John Tesh's Holiday Favorites, "Silent Night."
November 27th Broadcast "Persecuted for Righteousness"
Jesus pronounced a blessing on those who are persecuted because they are righteous.  It is interesting that God's gift of righteousness will cost us, but it is worth it.  Music:  "I Believe in Jesus" was written by Marc Nelson © 1987 by Vineyard Music.  Also, "Glorify Thy Name" written by Donna Adkins © 1976 by Maranatha Music.
November 20th broadcast "Blessed are the Peacemakers"
Jesus said, "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the 'sons of God.'  Jesus Christ is the great peacemaker between God and Man, mediating a new covenant through His shed blood.  In Christ we can find peace with God, and have a place from which to make peace with others in His name.  Music Credits:  "Above All" was sung by Lenny LeBlanc who co-authored the song with Paul Baloche.  The group Selah sang "Before the Throne of God."  Click here for a Youtube presentation of it.
November 13, 2011  "Blessed are the Pure in Heart"

Purity of heart is created when one receives Jesus Christ as their Savior.  From there a process begins to purify one's whole life as well.  Music by Varetta Heidelberg from her album, "Light in the Midst of Darkness."

I heard her play at a conference I attended.  What an artist, and so passionate for the Lord.  Click on the link above to learn about her and her non-profit outreach, Instruments of Praise.  "I Give You My Heart" sung by Steve McPherson.

November 6, 2011 Broadcast "Blessed are the Merciful"
"Blessed are the Merciful, for they shall be shown mercy."  (Matthew 5:7)   The Parable of the Unmerciful Servant can be found in Matthew 18: 21 ff.  Here's a link to the story, "The Ticket" which I read.  Music included "You are My Hiding Place" sung by Selah, and "Grace Alone" featuring the Maranatha Singers.
October 30, 2011 Broadcast "Hungering for Righteousness"
"Blessed are they that hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be filled."  Matthew 5:6   Jesus told a parable  called "The Pearl of Great Price" in Matthew 13:  The Kingdom of heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls.  When he found one of great value, he went away and sold everything he had and bought it.   This is what it means to hunger for righteousness.   Music on this broadcast includes "Refiner's Fire" and "As the Deer."
